“Having 13 Portuguese startups at Collision is once again a clear demonstration of the vitality and innovation potential of our diverse ecosystem. The Business Abroad program, developed by Startup Portugal, continues to play a central role in the internationalization of our startups, facilitating their entry and expansion into global markets, which is an essential move to plan from the very beginning, given the size of the national market,” emphasizes António Dias Martins, Executive Director of Startup Portugal, who will be one of the Portuguese speakers at the event, alongside Margarida Figueiredo from CM Lisboa and Paulo Rosado, CEO of Outsystems.
“Unicorn Factory Lisboa, as a driver of the city’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, plays a fundamental role in bringing Lisboa’s name, the Unicorn Capital, to events like Collision. We believe that this participation will open doors for new partnerships and investments in our startups,” states Margarida Figueiredo, Municipal Director of Economy and Innovation at CML.
The selected startups seek entry or increased investment in the American market and represent the diversity and dynamism of the Portuguese entrepreneurial ecosystem, operating in areas such as artificial intelligence, igaming, fintech, cybersecurity, and sustainability.
These startups have collectively raised approximately 18 million euros and currently employ over 200 people.
Since its inception, the Business Abroad program, which aims to promote the internationalization of national startups by supporting their presence and exposure in international markets, has supported over 270 startups in international tech events and the most relevant markets for this sector.
