Entrepreneurs of Colour is a short film on entrepreneurship and diversity in the Lisbon startup ecosystem. The film elevates the stories of several entrepreneurs of colour in Lisbon, as well as individuals who support them. The documentary-style film highlights their view of the Lisbon entrepreneurial ecosystem, showcasing their wins and their challenges within the ecosystem. The goal of the short film is to inspire entrepreneurs of colour in Europe and to inspire change in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Short film was directed by Sami Haraketi and executively produced by Otito Dosumu who are current residents of Lisbon. Otito Dosumu and Sami Haraketi have both been working in the startup scene in Lisbon for the last 5 years and were inspired to produce a film based on their experience in the startup ecosystem. The film is also an extension of the community that Otito Dosumu founded which is also called Entrepreneurs of Colour. This community has been built to support entrepreneurs that identify as black, brown and asian living in Lisbon. This support the community provided consists of meetups, workshops, events and connecting members to investors.
Although the Entrepreneurs of colour community is growing rapidly it has not done so by itself. The community has grown by collaborating with Made of Lisboa and RESVES Coworking Space, who are firm believers in the cause for diversity. Made of Lisboa and RESVES Coworking space were also instrumental in the production and dissemination of the film.
